A man at the home was asleep when he heard a loud crash around 8 a.m., authorities said. When he investigated, he found a first-floor window smashed and saw two men on his porch. The men ran when he called out, police said.

Responding officers arrested Maplewood resident Henry Smith, 28, on Stanford Place. The second man, 27-year-old Nyedair Parker of Paterson, was caught on Columbus Avenue, police said.

Both men were charged with burglary and receiving stolen property. Smith, who police said was found with a multi-tool, was also charged with possession of burglary tools and resisting arrest. Parker was also charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, hindering arrest and resisting arrest.
